Or visit our multi-level Sports Complex and walk The Plank, which extends 8 feet over the side of the ship. With so much excitement, you’ll have to come back for more. Built by Meyer Werft in Germany, Norwegian Escape was ordered in 2012. Costing an estimated €700 million, the ship would be the largest for Norwegian Cruise Line at the time, as well as the first to launch the new Breakaway Plus class. The ship would be significantly larger than the previous Breakaway class, with far more capacity, but still include Norwegian favorite features like 678 Ocean Place and The Waterfront.
Rendering of the Norwegian Escape
After passing a small hallway, you encounter the open 678 Ocean Place with its beautiful chandelier. It changes color throughout the day, making for a picturesque backdrop for photos. To get to the aft section of this deck, you need to walk down to deck 17, and then climb back up again.

Bayamo, inspired by the Cuban city of the same name, is Chef Jose Garces' latest Latin-infused seafood restaurant and the first at sea. Choose signature items like black cod or roasted eggplant from an a la carte menu while dining inside, or, better yet, dine alfresco along the ship's Waterfront. If you're looking for a more casual venue, Garces offers up traditional Spanish small plates at Pincho Tapas Bar.
Thermal suite access allows you to enjoy a thalassotherapy pool, heated lounge chairs and a hot tub. Plus, there are floor-to-ceiling windows for great views of the water while you kick back and relax. The AquaPark includes lots of fun activities, with four different water slides, including the free fall slides, a kids water park, a pool and a poolside movie screen. There are several Penthouses to choose from, but most offer tons of space, including dining and sitting areas, a master bedroom, and some of the best forward-facing views on the ship. The Deluxe suite offers a king-size bed, in-suite hot tub and oversized waterfall shower in the modern upscale bathroom, among other features.
There, diners can watch their food prepped tableside on an authentic la plancha grill. On September 18, 2015, started vessel's 24-hour long conveyance along Ems River (from the shipyard in Papenburg Germany to Eemshaven Holland). Liner's christening ceremony was on November 9, 2015, lead by godfather Pitbull (rapper Armando Christian Perez). The naming ceremony was attended by NCLH's CEO Frank Del Rio.
Private keycard access complex comprised of staterooms specifically designed and priced for the solo traveler. Featuring a full-size bed, a one-way window to the corridor, and separate areas for your bathroom, sink and shower, in 100 square feet of living space. These staterooms offer incredible views from the balcony, two lower beds that convert to a queen-size bed and additional bedding to sleep one or two more. While some older cruise ships only offer one main swimming pool, that’s not at all the case when you’re aboard Norwegian Escape. Here's an over and guide of the Norwegian Escape cruise ship, including all the venues and onboard features.
Complete aft of the ship are two more specialty restaurants, Cagney’s and Moderno, and the Prime Meridian Bar. We saw people using this area during the day to relax and play board games and cards. Also on this deck are some studio cabins and the studio lounge. There are three decks of studio rooms (Decks 10-12), and we were able to get a tour of the area. Unfortunately, all cabins were occupied, so we were not able to see one of the rooms. Technically, there are no public facilities from Deck 15 down to Deck 8.
The Haven is the Norwegian Escape's private enclave for guests staying in 95 of the suite accommodations on the cruise ship. The Haven guests share a huge courtyard with pool, bar, and private restaurant. They also have many other benefits, including the services of a concierge, priority embarkation and debarkation, and priority tender boarding.
With access to The Haven, these Penthouses feature a king-size bed plus dining and sitting areas. They offer an unforgettable view from the aft-facing, private balcony. Located in The Haven, these Suites offer two bedrooms, amazing ocean views, a wet bar and two spacious balconies. They include a king-size bed, additional bedding that accommodates two and has two bathrooms.
We actually did not dine at either of these two venues during our cruise. Continuing down to the heart of the ship, many venues are found on decks 6, 7, and 8. Starting at the front of the ship, you have the District Brew House- a pub with a specialty cocktail menu and a wide selection of beers on tap. Aft of the ship on deck 19 is where you will be able to really explore the sports complex. Relatively busy during our cruise, we did manage to play one game which ended in a tie. You can also grab a great photo of the pool deck and lower decks by walking the little track behind the bar.
The thermal relaxation area shown in the photo above is part of the thermal suite, which also features a sauna, steam rooms, and snow room. Solo travelers will especially enjoy the Studio Cabin complex, which features 82 tiny cabins designed for one person each. The complex has its own Studio Lounge for the solo travelers, which is a great gathering place. The Norwegian Escape is similar to her two sister ships, the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, but just enough different to put her into the "Breakaway Plus" class.
